Plant-Based Single Origin Spice
Brazilian Pink Pepper
Schinus terebinthifolius
At the edge of the rainforest, where the earth is well nourished, and the weather is perfectly temperate. Our Brazilian pink pepper is cultivated in the backyards of smallholder farmers who meticulously tend each plant, and only the ripest, pinkish rose-hued berries are selected for processing, resulting in a smooth, refined touch to your sweet and savory meals.
Our pink pepper has a pleasantly fruity scent with notes of pine. The taste is sweetly aromatic, similar to juniper but not as strong, it shares with true black pepper P. longum one important constituent, piperine oil, but it has none of the pepper’s heat.
The rich rose color adds shimmering elegance and great flavor to any soups, pasta, rice dishes, and stir-fries. This pepper is soft and airy and can easily be crushed between your fingers. Toss a few pinches into vinaigrettes, add to salads for a most crunchy and delicious flavor. Sprinkle as you would finishing salts on roasted chicken or fillets of barramundi or sole.
Want a crowd pleaser at your next dinner party! Crush a tablespoon, roll a log of goat cheese, for a tasty and pretty presentation. It combines well with fennel; kaffir lime leaves lemongrass and chervil.
Comes in our signature airtight tin, which measures 2-1/2 inches in diameter and 1-3/4 inches in height.
